KYAST has a Research and Development team who are constantly in the job of identifying various medicinal plants. Its beneficial uses are systematically recorded and used in community kitchen for everyday cooking. Using medicinal plants in cooking used to be common in earlier days before the modernization crept into our lives in the form of ‘ready to eat packaged foods with preservatives. The team at KYAST is keen to bring back this traditional healthy eating lifestyle by preserving the knowledge on the use of medicinal plants in traditional recipes. A pure vegetarian Satvic food in the ashram contains the ingredients from the Ayurvana such as medicinal herbs and leafy greens grown organically in the comminuity garden.
